Stephen HoggBio
His first cd “Stinkin’ Town” was basically an introductory serving to Stephen and his craft. Songs like “ Pickerel in a Pan” or the title track, “Stinkin’ Town”, let you know that Stephen Hogg had a musical universe and he was not afraid to tell you about it.
The second cd “’cordin’ to me”, was the next horizon for Steve’s music with songs like “The List”, about him seeing a neighbour lay around the back yard while he tends to the tasks set out for him by his wife on his Saturday job list, or “Angel in My Kitchen”, a song with mysterious overtones about an ordinary day.
“Talkin’ Stick”, his third cd, proved him to be an insightful writer and implies the parody of life with an earthy approach featured in the song, “Twist Tie Guy”. Hogg makes full use of his artistic license to conjure up the story of the man who invented the twist tie.
“Dirty Rotton Shame”, released this year, comes shortly after touring with Fred Eaglesmith throughout Texas. This cd features back up vocals, mandolin and harmonica solos by the legendary Willie P. Bennett, as well as other members of Eaglesmith’s traveling band.
In early 2006 along came "Nudderwon". This is a new batch of songs featuring Willie Macaulay on acoustic lead guitar, Carrie Ashworth on stand up bass, Rudy Hogg on electric guitars, and many other talented musicians including Randal Hill and Dan Walsh.
Plans are already underway to start working on the next cd release.
